About Me

Hi, my name is Kristen, and I, probably much like you, am trying to navigate this chaotic messy thing we call life.

While I still don't know who I want to be and what I want to do, I do know that a cute outfit helps me get through the day with confidence. My clothes (and a lint roller) allow me to look put together on the outside. As for what's going on inside my head - my therapist, cats, and wine help me handle to continuous neurotic and awkward thoughts, the made-up love scenarios (you know when you catch the eye of a cute boy on the street and you convince yourself an On the Line esque series of romantic events are soon to follow), and the endless "I should totally invent [blank]. I'd be a millionaire and OMG I'd totally win a Nobel prize!" ideas.

Basically, I am a hot mess that manages to survive the adult world somehow, and I do it all while looking (reasonably) cute.

My Story
(WARNING: I'm not that cool so don't expect this to be totally enthralling - in fact I can save you time and sum up my life in one sentence: My life didn't go as planned and I was in college for six years and when I graduated I felt lost so I started a blog.)

I am from the small town of Littleton, MA and when I graduated high school I was more than ready to embark on my college adventure. I had my whole life planned out (aka my life until I was in my mid-twenties because when you're a teenager that seems like your whole life). I was going to go to college on Long Island where I would graduate after four years with a Marketing degree. Since I had met the most awesome friends ever we would move into the city together, where I would be a hugely successful marketing person (we're talking corner office and live flowers in a vase kind of success). I would end up falling madly in love with a rich hardworking man and we would live happily ever after with lots of cats and a couple kids. However, after two years on Long Island I realized that it wasn't what I wanted, so I decided to move to Texas.

Austin, TX is awesome. It's so much fun and I just turned 21 so who wouldn't love 6th Street?! (PSA: Do not wear heels on 6th street unless you are a ninja. Those cobblestones are brutal) I lived there for about a year working and going to classes until summer hit. Let me remind you - I am from New England, so when it got over 100 degrees I hightailed it back to Massachusetts with my gray kitten, Katniss (who also couldn't stand the heat even though she is Texan...).

Fast forward a couple years and I am living on Cape Cod. I have acquired another kitten, Tuukka, and I am working my butt off. Not only am I enrolled as a full-time student in online classes for Northeastern, I am also working full-time in the accounting field, and commuting three hours a day to work. Finally, in the fall of 2015 I got my BS in Accounting and Finance Management.

Yes, you read that right. I ended up switching my major to accounting - it took me six years and three different schools to finally get my degree.

What I have learned from all of this is that I shouldn't be as concerned with planning my life as I should be for setting personal goals. If I had stuck to my original plans I wouldn't  have either of my fur babies, I wouldn't know most of the friends I have now, and I wouldn't be the person I am.

The reason I started this blog was because when I graduated (something I had worked so hard and long for) I felt lost and purposeless. I had a hard time trying to determine what my next step in my life should be - and then I realized that I can do anything I want. Now is the time for me to figure out me. So this blog is pretty much a product of a quarter-life crisis.

Well, there you have it - I warned  you that it would be boring.

UPDATE:
I moved to Charleston, SC and am working as a Staff Accountant - the cats came with me obvi.
