Sunshine State Getaway
12:52 PMHello friends! I just got back from a week of vacation in Florida - and let me tell you, a dose of sunshine and warmth was much needed! I came back to Massachusetts, bronzed and refreshed just in time for 5 inches of snow. Here are some of the outfits I wore while I was away.
A Sailors Life for Me
My first full day of vacation was spent on the open seas (well kind of... more so in rivers and bays). It was about 80 that day, but it is always a little chillier out on the water. I wore a loose white tank, pink shorts, and a tan cardigan to keep me warm.
Shorts: American Eagle, Shirt: TJ Maxx/American Eagle - Old (similar), Cardigan: Forever21, Flip Flops: American Eagle
Exploring the Shoppes
Another one of my favorite looks was from the day spent walking around (aka drinking coffee & shopping) downtown.
It was a nice day, but when the sun went behind the clouds it would get a little chilly, so I decided a jean jacket would be the perfect way to keep the outfit cute and summer-y, but also add some warmth when necessary. BTW my nail color is OPI's Cajun Shrimp - I love the bright pinkish-red it is perfect for a winter get away!
Romper: Forever21, Jean Jacket: Target, Necklace: Forever21 - old (similar) Wedges: Payless - old (similar)
A side note on the romper - I am wearing a medium and the shorts were a little short, so if you're bootielicious keep this in mind.
While shopping we went into a thrift store where I bought this sweater and purse for less than $10! Talk about an amazing buy - sometimes I forget how rewarding looking through thrift stores can be.
A Night Out on the Town
This outfit is the one I wore when we went bar hopping on the town the second to last night. I dressed in a 3/4 sleeve black loose top, white shorts, and jeweled sandals (I wish I had worn red lips as well!). You can't see the back of the top in this but it has a keyhole cut out with a black bow right on neckline - this detail is what makes this one of my favorite shirts. This is my kind of outfit because it is simplistic and can be worn to dive bars as well as more upscale places.
For me, visiting Florida wasn't just about getting away from New England for a nice vacation - it was also about seeing my Grandma Lou. I haven't gotten to see her in about three years, so spending a day with her was amazing. This is the view from the condo she owns (btw she is 82 and just bought, fixed up, and decorated this place - talk about an amazing woman!). While we were visiting a couple was getting married on the beach (yes, we watched from above). It was a small wedding, the bride looked stunning, and I can only assume their pictures came out beautifully.
I had a great time, but as always, when the time came to go home I was ready (and missing my cats way too much!) After arriving back in Cape Cod I was greeted by the kitty committee. Katniss pretty much stalked me (she wouldn't even let me pee alone) and cuddled me to death, while Tuukka had to sniff and inspect everything. Here is a video of Tuuk checking out my luggage (ignore the background noise I have a slight obsession with the Investigation Discovery channel)...
What crazy things do your pets do before/after you go away? I know I can't be the only one with a couple of furry weirdos!
